    Abstract

    It was discussed that how to apply the flow simulation to a vehicle designs in order to enhance the efficiency of the vehicle development on a digital process, which is emerging recently at almost automotive companies in the world. As the result of the discussion, it was derived that the requirements for the flow simulation at the early stage of the vehicle development. One of the most important factors for the flow analysis is the turnaround time of the simulation as well as the accuracy of the computation. From the standpoint of these situations, the Cartesian mesh method becomes the most powerful tool among various analysis methods. In this paper, the Cartesian method was classified by means of the level of shape approximation and each feature was reviewed briefly.
