We are indebted to Dr. T. Hayashi, Dr. M. Nozaki, Dr. M. Imori, Mr. T. Tsukamoto, Mr. K. Nagano, Mr. Anrakuj, Mr. T. Yoshida, and Mr. M. Sasaki for their help in various stages of this experiment. Assistances by Mr. H. Kuwahara, Mr. Y. Kirita, Mr. M. Tsuehida, Mr. A. Wakimura and Mr. T. Ito in the scanning are greatly acknowledged. The authors would like to thank Dr. H.H. Heckman, Dr. I. Tani-hata and Dr. T. Kobayashi for providing and kindly helping us for the Bevalac exposures. Sincere thanks are to the people of the Mitsui Mining and Smelting Company for their guidance in the underground world. This work is supported by the Japanese Ministry of Education and Yamada Science Foundation.

N2 - We have conducted an underground search for supermassive relic particles by an 80 m2 array consisting of three layers of track detector CR-39. The non-observation of penetrating tracks places the velocity-dependent flux upper limits down to 2 × 10-14 cm-2 s -1 sr-1 for various electrically or magnetically charged particles under assumptions on their energy losses in the low- velocity region. Assuming that the nuclear recoils are effective to the track formation of CR-39, this experiment sets the best flux limits for such relic particles in the velocity region 4 × 10-5 <β<2 × 10-4.
