Based on the body force method, a sophisticated way to analyze the semi-infinite body with a revolutional pit under uniaxial tension is presented, and the special fundamental solutions necessary for the analysis are given. The accurate numerical results are shown for the case of the semi-infinite bodies with a semispheroidal or drill-hole-shaped pit, and the stress distributions around the pit are discussed.
