Abstract

The glass-like carbon and furan resin were investigated using scanning electron microscopy. The origin of mesoscopic texture in the glass-like carbon was also studied. The furan resin precursor used was viscous liquid, containing 40% monomer. The micro-grain, as one of the basic structural units in the glass-like carbon, is considered to be very influential on its mechanical properties, such as strength, gasification reactivity and morphology.
