Abstract
It is widely accepted that carbon nanotubes (CNTs) consist of coaxially curved graphene layers. However, some CNTs, synthesized at relatively low temperature, are self-organized into rod- or plate-shaped mesostructural units with periodic structure. These findings give another point of view on the formation mechanism of CNTs.
