STUDIES ON IN-CYLINDER GAS FLOW - CRITICAL COMPARISONS OF PREDICTED AND MEASURED RESULTS.

Abstract

The paper presents some problems of measurements and predicted results of in-cylinder gas flow obtained by several workers during the compression stroke by comparing those data with the predicted results using the energy method which was proposed previously by the authors. Taking the energy method as a criterion for comparisons, computations are made for those existing data of measurements and predictions by using each engine specification. Comparisons are made especially for the swirl velocities in the combustion bowl during compression.
