Abstract
Recently, FTTH is expanding rapidly in access network. And It has been pointed out that operational expenditure (OpEx) is increasing. Major maintenance tasks for FTTH demand fiber identification. The traditional approach is the non-destructive macro-bending method. However, if OpEx increase in the future, it is important to cut the OpEx. In this paper, we propose in-line monitoring technique with visible light. The field engineer or end user can check the in-service state of optical fiber by using the proposed monitoring technique. Furthermore, we propose the solution for requirements of the monitoring technique, and report to experimental results by using quasi-phase-matching LiNbO_3 (QPM-LN).
