Study of isoscalar spin strength via the 12C(d→, d′→) reaction

Abstract

The spin-flip probability S1 and the double-spin-flip probability S2 for the 12C(d→, d′→) reaction at Εd=270 MeV have been measured at θlab between 2.5° and 7.5° and for excitation energies up to 25 MeV by using a vector-and-tensor Deuteron POLarimeter DPOL. Large S1 values are observed for the transitions to the isoscalar spin-flip states, such as the 12.71 MeV 1+ state. S2 has values close to zero for all the measured excitation energy region.
