Abstract

For a SMES to protect the whole facility from momentaly voltage drop, a helium free superconducting pulse coil using conduction cooling is developed. Also short time power converters and a high-speed voltage drop detector for a 1MJ class SMES are designed. To confirm the design of components, a 100kJ class demo system is constricted tested. After that the half part of 1MJ SMES is constricted for operation tests.
