Abstract
By use of the small acoustical box, the sound transmission losses of hollow double and triple wooden walls were measured, and theoretically calculated by Iwasige and Oda's S.E.A. (statistical energy analysis) method, which can estimate the sound transmission of hollow double and N-folded triple walls. The experimental values were almost the same as the values by large-sized specimens regulated by JIS (Japanese Industrial Standards). The experimental results were in satisfactory agreement with the theoretical results. Especially, the theory can predict low frequency transmission droppings and the effects of hollow core thicknesses and numbers. The sound transmission loss of hollow wooden walls, can be measured simply with a small acoustic box.
