Abstract

Glass fiber Reinforced polymer (GFRP) is expected as a new structural material by the lightness and corrosion resistance. Therefore, there are advantages of the self-weight reduction and the improvement of construction. GFRP is anisotropic and elastic materials without yield point. Several studies have been made on material characteristic and flexural-shear behavior of GFRP pultruded Isection beam so far. In case of using the pultruded I-section beam, it is necessary and indispensable the connections with the GFRP material or another material. However, the research on the connections between GFRP material and other materials is hardly done in Japan. In this research, it was carried out the tensile test of the connections between GFRP plate and steel plate, which the parameters were connection type and the surface treatment of GFRP plate. It was found from the result that strength characteristic and the failure mechanism of connections between GFRP and steel plates. And, it was shown applicability of high strength friction grip bolted joint.
