Abstract

In order to clarity the phenomenon of ultrasonic wave propagation, the simulation software, named UT-Simulation, has been developed based on FEM and implicit time integrating procedure. The accuracy of calculation is confirmed by comparison of reflected wave from defects between numerical results and experimental results. The visualization procedure based on so-called migration technique, in which a series of measured data obtained by moving a probe position are collected and integrated along hyperbolic trajectories, is developed. By adopting this procedure for some measured data of normal beam and TOFD testing, the schematic views of defect size, shape, and location are obtained.
