Substitution groups effect on protein-like thermal hysteresis of poly(dehydroalanine)

Abstract

We synthesized poly(dehydroalanine) derivatives (PDA) which have two amide groups at α-position. These polymers show a remarkable thermal hysteresis behavior. The large hysteresis of polymer was probably caused by strong hydrophobic intraction and strong hydrogen bonding among the polymers. The hysteresis behavior of the polymers remains unchanged in the presence of any additives (inorganic salts and urea).
