Abstract
Equal-channel angular (ECA) pressing was used to produce ultra-fine grain sizes in two commercial Al alloys: an Al-Mg-Li-Zr alloy and an Al-Cu-Zr alloy. The results demonstrate the potential for using this procedure in order to achieve high strain rate superplasticity (HSRSP). In the present experiments, elongations up to and above 1000% were obtained at strain rates ≥10-2 s-1.
