Abstract

Synthesis and characterization of an iron porphyrin axially-coordinated by thiolate were carried out in order to mimic the active center of cytochrome P-450. O2 binds reversibly to the ferrous form at -80 °C. The oxygenated complex showed a v(Fe-O2) band at 578 cm-1 in the resonance Raman spectrum.
