Synthesis of 20‐[18F]fluoroarachidonic acid: A potential phospholipid metabolic agent

Abstract

A fluorine‐18 labelled analog of arachidonic acid, 20‐[18F]fluoroarachidonic acid, was prepared for evaluation as a potential phospholipid metabolic agent. The radiosynthesis was accomplished by [18F]fluoride ion displacement on the tosylate precursor followed by basic hydrolysis of the ester group, in isolated radiochemical yield (not decay corrected) of 10 % in overall synthesis time (including HPLC purification) of 110 min.
