Abstract
We have studied shape memory properties and training effects for Fe-Mn-Si-Al alloys. It was found that Fe-30Mn-5Si-1Al alloy has similar shape recovery properties to Fe-30Mn-6Si alloy in that γ(fcc)↔ε(hcp) reversible phase transformation is responsible for shape recovery. Fe-30Mn-5Si-1Al alloys possess unique shape recovery behavior and mechanical property due to twinning deformation, With training treatment, preferred formation of εmartensite was promoted, which was obviously reflected in the shape of stress-strain curves. The change of deformation behavior through training treatment was different for the alloys with and without Al depending on the combination of ε-martensitic transformation and twinning deformation.
