Abstract
Measurements of turbulent burning velocity obtained from experiments carried out using a fan-stirred spherical combustion vessel are presented. The influence of Lewis Number, Le and Markstein Number, Ma on the turbulent burning velocity at pressures up to 0.50MPa are discussed together with correlations presented in terms of turbulence Karlovitz Number, Ka. Those flames with the most reduced Markstein Number, Ma (and/ or Lewis Number, Le) were observed to have greatest turbulent burning velocity. Possible explanations for the underlying mechanism behind these observations are considered.
