Abstract

Characteristics of subsurface and physical phenomena are revealed by reviewing and interpreting the studies carried out since late 60's in Momotombo Area. Features of the geothermal system in Momotombo are summarized and a conceptual model of the reservoir was presented, which indicates that an upflow zone of high temperature fluid underlies the western part of the field. The hot fluid then flows laterally to the southeast at a shallow level that overlies a low temperature water intrusion.
