The nelson model

Abstract

In this chapter the Nelson model is studied, which was investigated by Nelson [49] who succeeded in renormalizing an ultraviolet cutoff function and defining Hamiltonian without cutoffs. This model describes an interaction between non-relativistic spinless nucleons and a scalar meson field. The existence of the ground state of the Nelson Hamiltonian with/without cutoffs is proven.
