Thermosensitive behavior of α,α-disubstituted vinyl polymers which have two amide groups by amide part structural isomerism

Abstract

We synthesized two kinds of α,α-disubstituted vinyl polymers which have two amide groups(polymer 1 and 2). The phase transition temperature of polymer 1(R=Et) and polymer 3(R 3=R 4=Et) was 45 and 27°C, respectively, at heating process. This indicated that there was difference in hydrohilicity between polymer 1 and 3. The thermal hystereses of polymer 1 and 3 were 17.5, 3.6°C, respectively. We considered that this large hysteresis was caused by strong hydrogen bonding among the polymers.
