Abstract

Time-resolved demagnetization of antiferromagnetic bulk insulator Cr2 O3 after excitation with an intense 250 fs laser pulse was investigated using phase-sensitive optical second harmonic generation. Three processes on different time scales ranging from ≪ 1 ps to ∼ 7 ps were distinguished.
