Abstract

In this paper, we propose a new tracking method for soft non-linear moving objects from ultrasonic radio frequency (2.5MHz) echo signals in order to trace points in a heart muscle precisely. The method is based on a hierarchical correlation method with wide and narrow search areas in signal processing. We think that the correlation coefficient corresponds with the degree of the confidence of a determined position. If the correlation coefficient of a interest point is low, the tracking position is determined using the weighted summation of the movements at the neighbor points. We evaluate the accuracy of this method for the ultrasonic echo signals about the normal and the abnormal hearts.
