Transmission through an Aperture in a Plate with Surface Impedances in a Rectangular Waveguide

Abstract

Scattering through an aperture in a metal plate covered with lossy material such as noise absorbing material in a rectangular waveguide was investigated theoretically and experimentally. A surface impedance boundary condition was assumed for the covered plate to formulate the problem. It was observed that noise absorbing sheets attached on a plate having a small aperture caused an increase in the transmission coefficient.
