Abstract
A novel hybrid tellurite/silica fiber Raman amplifier was reported. This amplifier yielded a flattened gain spectrum and a gain bandwidth of 135 nm with a minimum gain of 22.8 dB. The maximum and minimum gains in the gain-band of the amplifier were 34.6 and 22.8 dB respectively. It was used as a pre-amplifier in an eight-channel×10-Gb/s transmission experiment.
