Abstract

The efficacy of cetirizine hydrochloride dry syrup (Zyrtec® dry syrup) and patients' satisfaction with the drug were investigated in 26 adult patients with urticaria, eczema, prurigo, and pruritus cutanea using a questionnaire on compliance. Approximately 80% of the patients reported that the dry syrup was easy to take, and approximately 90% took it regularly. Efficacy of the treatment was evident within 3 days in about 70% of the patients. Only 2 patients felt soporific. Almost all hoped to be prescribed cetirizine hydrochloride dry syrup on a continuous basis. These results suggest that cetirizine hydrochloride dry syrup (Zyrtec® dry syrup) is a highly useful medication for adults with urticaria, eczema, prurigo, and pruritus cutanea.
