Abstract

The Hishikari Gold Mine is located in the north?eastern part of Kagoshima City, Kyushu, Japan.various geophysical surveys have been conducted and played important roles in the exploration of epithermal vein type gold-silver deposits in the area. The Vertical Electric Profiling (VEP) survey using a casing pipe as a current electrode was very effective for a quick mapping of resistive quartz veins in hydrothermally altered zones, while Vertical Electric Sounding (VES) survey was very successful for deterrnining resistiv?ity structures with depths. Therefore, the joint use of mapping and sounding surveys gaus better resolut?ion for a gold deposit.
