Abstract

Viscoelastic properties of fractionated poly(vinyl methyl ether) in melts were measured in oscillation flow in the molecular weight range of 2.44×104–13.4×104. It was found that the molecular weight dependences of zero-shear viscosity η° and steady-state compliance Je are qualitatively the same as those of other linear polymers, and the Je value in entangled region is about 3×10−6 (cm2 dyn−1), while the plateau modulus GN0 is about 2.6×106 (dyn cm−2).
