Abstract
We have been developing a wash-free detection of biological targets using magnetic markers and magneto-resistive (MR) sensor. In this method, bound and unbound markers can be magnetically distinguished by using the Brownian relaxation. Thus, conventional time-consuming washing process to separate them can be eliminated. Using the magnetic method, we demonstrated the detection of C-reactive protein (CRP). CRPs with concentration from 0.1 ng/mL to 100 ng/mL were successfully detected, which indicates the usefulness of the present method. Reliability of detection was also studied by conducting 10 times experiment. It was shown that the reliability is high when CRP concentration is higher than 3.0 ng/mL. However, it is necessary to improve the reliability for the case of lower concentrations. A method to improve the reliability at lower concentrations was also discussed.
