Abstract

Experiments have been conducted on the wear of carbon steel under various lubricating conditions, and profiles of the wear track have been measured at intervals. The data are digitized, and cross-correlation between the profiles and composite profiles of mating surfaces are computed. The results show significant effects of lubricating condition on the microtopography. The relation between the changes of the microtopography and wear behavior is discussed.
