抄録
This study revealed how lay members of Catholic Takayubaru Church maintained its church building and restored it after the earthquake. The first generation of members, who migrated from Goto to Takayubaru as farmers, served together in maintenance of the church building as they were helping each other in all aspects of life. Fewer members of the second and third generations continued such service since the unity in livelihood decreased. A few members of the second generation chose to carry out maintenance and restoration because of their personal understanding of faith, which was strongly influenced by that of the first generation.
