We conducted a survey to delineate the image of Oguni Town, Aso County, Kumamoto Prefecture by using metaphors. Using eight samples each of the eight items such as chair and fruit, the residents were asked to select those which they believed would represent the ideal regional images of Oguni Town. "Y-Chair" and "melon" were selected most frequently. Based on the factor spaces of these samples in the study previously conducted by the authors, it was concluded that the regional image to be established would have a sophisticated degree of culture whereas various ideas were cited regarding the affinity and the quietness of the community.
