This research aimed to clarify the effect of seasonal cold acclimatization to man. Fifteen male participants were exposed cold for 90 minutes in summer and winter; for the first 30 minutes air temperature was decreased from 27℃ to 10℃ and for the last 60 minutes the temperature was maintained at 10℃. Results showed that, in winter, the decrease in rectal temperature and oxygen consumption were lower than those in summer. Moreover, proximal skin temperatures were higher and respiratory exchange ratio was lower in winter than those in summer. These results suggested that seasonal cold acclimatization occurred and non-shivering thermogenesis was increased in winter.
