The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship
between learning Focusing and mental health . The Focusing
Manner Scale(FMS )which measures the Focusing attitude on daily
life was administered and mental health states was measured
by GHQ-60(The General Health Questionnaire )among 116
university students. Factor analysis of FMS identified three
dimensions of Focusing Manner , and internal consistency was
measured by Cronbach's alpha(α=0.826). The results show that
the FMS negatively correlates well with those scales of the
GHQ (r=-.395、p<.0001)that reflect "Anxiety and Sleep
Disturbance" , "Social Dysfunction" , " Depression" .
To assessed the effect of learning Focusing, 9 university
students were administered GHQ and FMS at the monthly Focusing
workshop for beginners . There were session's effects and
improvement on both measures. Findings indicate a decrease
in GHQ scores. It is concluded that learning Focusing was
correlated with mental health in adolescent.
