We report a 13-year-old girl admitted to our hospital because of a 9-day history of redness, papules and purpura, followed by fever, general malaise and arthritis. Laboratory studies disclosed HBs Ag (+), HBe Ag (+), HBe Ab (-) and IgM-HBc Ab (+) in the serum. HBV DNA was also present in the peripheral blood. The deposition of C 1 q and C 3 was demonstrated around the blood vessels in the superficial dermis by immunohistological techniques. Although she suffered from moderate liver dysfunction, the patient recovered well. The disease was believed to have been sexually transmitted based on her life history.
