AFM observations of TGS crystal surface in microscopic and semi-microscopic levels

Utilizing an Atomic Force Microscope (AFM), the (010) cleavage surface of Triglycinesulfate (TGS) was observed in the atmosphere without any treatment. In the semi-microscopic-level (sub-micrometer) observation, we could observe the internal structure of the saw-tooth pattern, and found that some domain patterns changed their shape with time after the cleavage. Besides, in the microscopic-level (sub-nanometer) one, a regular molecular arrangement which corresponded to the crystal structure was also identified.
