1. 1. Respiration rate in vitro (Qo2) of most tissues in carp decreased with increasing body mass, with slopes less steep than that for the decline in weight-specific metabolic rate of intact carp. 2. 2. The Qo2, value of the whole body which was prepared in the same way as in tissues decreased, on the other hand, with a slope very close to the slope for intact carp.
