An altered DNA sequence encompassing the ras gene of harvey murine sarcoma virus

Dr. M.A. Martin has informed us that the Harvey murine sarcoma virus DNA clone which he generously provided us is not the same one as sequenced by R. Dhar et al. (Science, 217, 934-937, 1982). The following correction should be made in the above paper.Incorrect version: p5585, the fifteenth line from the bottom."Because the viral DNA was originated from the same clone but sequenced in two separated laboratories, these discrepancies in the sequences may be partially caused by .....". Correct version: "Both clones arose from the same experiments and were apparently distinguished from each other by the number of long terminal repeat sequences (7). Therefore, these discrepancies in the sequences may be caused by differences at a nucleotide sequence level between the clones used. Alternatively, they may be partially caused by ....".
