This paper presents an analytical method to simulate and clarify the elastic-plastic behavior of bare-type concrete filled steel tubular (abbreviated as CFT) column base. In the analytical method, there are three fundamental failure modes taken into consideration, which are 1) yielding of anchor bolts, 2) flexural deformation of the base plate, and 3) compressive failure of the concrete and mortar under the base plate observed from previous experiments. Constitutive relations of materials consisting of a bare-type column base are modeled based on the results obtained both from analyses using finite element method and from material property tests. Excellent correlation was obtained between analytical and experimental moment-rotation curves. The proposed analytical method adequately predicts the behavior of CFT column base on conditions provided.
