A 66-year-old woman was found naked in the irrigation canal 5.5 km away from her house. She had many lacerations on her scalp and had a leaf of grass firmly clutched in her right hand. At first the police considered that she had been killed and abandoned, but autopsy revealed that the death was caused by drowning and that the most of lacerations had no bleeding into the tissues under the margins of the wound. The trace of sliding into the canal and the same grass as she grasped in her right hand were found near her house. Her clothes and watch were found in the irrigation canal and there were some steps of 1.5 m in height on route to the scene from the canal near her house. We concluded that she had accidentally slipped into the canal, and that extremely rapid stream took her clothes off and caused lacerations by hit to the steps in the canal. Careful investigation of a scene as well as corpse was helpful in this case.
