A double heterostructure of transition metal coordination compounds (TMCC), [Pt<SUP>II</SUP>(en)<SUB>2</SUB>][Pt<SUP>IV</SUP>X<SUB>2</SUB>(en)<SUB>2</SUB>]Y<SUB>4</SUB>(abbreviated as 'X'), where en=1,2-diaminoethane, X=Cl, Br, Y=ClO<SUB>4</SUB> or BF<SUB>4</SUB>, is grown by selective coordination epitaxy (SCE) for the first time. The fact indicates that superlattice of TMCC can be realized by SCE. A heterostructure including the mixed-crystal 'Cl<SUB>1−<I>x</I></SUB>Br<I><SUB>x</SUB></I>' (Y=ClO<SUB>4</SUB>) is also reported. The band structure of the superlattice of TMCC's can be controlled continuously in the same manner as that of GaAs/Al<SUB>1−<I>x</I></SUB>Ga<I><SUB>x</SUB></I>As/AlAs superlattice and reference is made to the polarized reflectance spectra of the mixed-crystals.
