N2 - We discuss the deformability of red blood cell (RBC) by using the developed system where it is composed of a vision sensor, a syringe pump and a microfluidic chip. The chip has a narrow channel for giving the mechanical restraint to the cell to be tested. The cell changes its shape while passing the narrow channel, and we can evaluate the cell deformability by monitoring the length of the cell in narrow channel. The cell deformability is evaluated by the cell extensibility where it is defined by the ratio between the cell length in narrow channel and the original diameter of the cell. The throughput of the constructed system is approximately 10 seconds/cell with an assistant of visual feedback control of the cell position.
