This study presents long term coastal directional wave characteristics observed at the Iwaki offshore multichannel station. This station is located in 154m of water on the east facing the Pacific Ocean. It is one of the important observation stations of the NOWPHAS (Nationwide Ocean Wave information network for Ports and HArbourS). Monthly and annual average wave energy statistics were obtained for seven years from 1986 until 1993. Mean wave directions and spectra peak directions were compared for single and double peak conditions. Principal Component Analysis was used to explain the directional wave spectra information. Mitsuyas's directional spectrum model was validated from long term observations.
