Characterization of PMMA-binding peptide motifs

To identify peptide motifs with selective affinity for stereoregular poly(methyl methacrylate)(PMMA), phage display selection using a heptamer random peptide library was carried out. After three rounds of biopanning, fifteen amino acid sequences for high specific affinity for syndiotactic (st) PMMA were selected. Binding affinity and specificity of these amino acid sequences were quantitatively investigated by ELISA. These clones showed the specific binding to st-PMMA rather than isotactic and atactic PMMAs.
