Comparative Narratives as the Secondary Analysis: Reconsidering 'Hachinosu-Jo Conflict'

抄録

Among qualitative methodologies recently developed, this paper focuses on Comparative Narratives proposed by P.Abell. After overviewing its theory and method, we examine the possibility as a tool for the secondary analysis of qualitative documents through a case study of community conflict, named "Hachinosu-Jo Conflict". First, some important aspects in the conflict process are extracted by the interactive mode abstraction. Focusing on these aspects, the extended "local explanation" will be applied in order to intensify how the intentional discrepancy among actors influenced the conflict process. Comparative Narratives as the secondary analysis should be developed going up and down in the framework of "interpretative intensifying"⇔"abstraction"⇔"generalization".
