Electron diffraction studies of a [(dioctadecyl)carbamoyl-methyl]guanidinium toluene-p-sulfonate (DG) monolayer reveal that the regularity of the molecular arrangement and the size of crystalline domains are controlled through binding of aqueous α,ω-dicarboxylates with various spacer lengths.
