Crystallization behavior of poly(ethylene glycol) loading aluminosilicate nanofiber

Imogolite is a hydrous aluminosilicate nanofiber with high aspect ratio and large specific surface area. In this study, poly(ethylene glycol)/imogolite (PEG/imogolite) blend films were prepared by the blending method. Crystallization behavior of (PEG/imogolite) blend was investigated by differential scanning calorimetry and polarized optical microscopy. (PEG/imogolite) blend films showed the decrease of the crystallization temperature and crystallization rate with an increase in imogolite fraction. Furthermore, evaluation of Avrami exponent and POM observation indicated that the crystal growth process of (PEG/imogolite) blend is different from that of PEG homopolymer. This can be ascribed to the strong interaction between PEG chains and imogolite.
