Development of a protease-responsive protein nano capsule for drug carrier

Recently, researches of drug delivery systems (DDS) have been investigated actively. For the accomplishment of DDS, it is important to develop drug carriers. Wile a lot of efforts have been expended, there are no carriers which have enough efficiency. So, we aimed at one protein which is named HSP16.5 for the application to drug carriers. This protein affects nano capsule-like conformation. In many diseases, it is well known that certain proteases have overexpresssed at the lesion regions. We inserted protease recognition amino acid sequences to the HSP16.5. In the presence of target protease, this nano capsule composed of rHSP16.5 could collapse selectively, and it is expected to release the encapsulated drug at pathological areas.
