Development of novel hybrid biodevice with self-organized vessels and artificcial microchannels

In this study, we proposed the hybrid biomicrodevice composed of biological self-organized vessels and artificial resin-based microchannels as a biocompatible tissue culturing device. When the tissue is cultured on the device, the biological vessels can remodel themselves as the tissue grows. Our hybrid device has microchannels connected to the self-organized vessels to supply sufficient nutrients. In this configuration, much better biocompatibility would be expected for our hybrid devices than that of conventional culture media or microdevices with only artificial vessels.
