Many biological polymers are insoluble in both water and general organic solvents. Recently, it was reported that such polymers are soluble in the ionic liquids, which are non-volatile liquid phase organic salts at around room temperature. In this study, we report the result of the dissolution process of cellulose examined by viscoelasticity measurement. Two kinds of ionic liquids are tested in this research. Moreover, the effects of the added salt on the dissolution of cellulose were examined.
